Match Review
3rd June 2000 Broughton 0 v 4 Burton Joyce - (Friendly)
Scorers: Anthony Kefer(2), James Bird, Mathew Powroznyk
This friendly match was played some one & a half hours away in
a village called Broughton just East of Scunthorpe. The weather
was very overcast and it rained during most of the match. Three
key players were missing due to half-term holidays and we borrowed
one of the Broughton players (David) for the day. Burton Joyce
played brilliantly as a team with plenty of passing and determination
despite the conditions. The first half was tight and Broughton
hit the post early on. James Bird scored just before half time.
BJ had more of the ball in the second half, Anthony Kefer scoring
from a good way out early on. Mathew Powroznyk's free kick just
went wide. After Broughton had hit the crossbar BJ hit back with
another well struck goal from Anthony Kefer and Mathew Powroznyk
made it four just before the final whistle. Some good goalkeeping
by Tom Parkinson enabled the team to keep a clean sheet. The
"Invitation Trophy" was presented to Mathew Powroznyk who was
captain for the day. Many thanks must go to Broughton for a
superb day and the burger & chips afterwards! I'm assured they
will visit us next year to try and win the trophy back.
Verdict :
A brilliant team effort won the day.
