Match Review
10th September 2000 Ruddington 0 v 12 Burton Joyce
Scorers: James Clark (3), Sam Smith (4, (1pen)), Anthony Kefer(4, (1pen)), Oliver Woodward
Sunny conditions and a good pitch enabled BJ to play some good football. Two early penalties
for tripping in the box were converted by Sam Smith and Anthony Kefer. This was followed
shortly by a superb side flick from James Bird on the edge of the box which Oliver
Woodward drove home. Mathew Powroznyk made a 40yd pass to Sam Smith who converted the fourth.
Sam and Anthony added two more before half time.
The second half provided more of the same, although in fairness to Ruddington they never
gave up. A really strong shot by Oliver Woodward was only partly cleared and Anthony stole
in to collect his fourth goal. James Clark was brought on and within minutes had scored with
a accurately struck low shot. A brilliant individual effort from Anthony Kefer resulted in
the ninth goal - he had run from well inside our half! James Clark added another two to his
tally both being well struck efforts. Sam Smith also scored again with a clever shot into
the corner of the net.
Verdict :
Lots of good passing and thinking.
Manager's Comment :
"I couldn't have wished for a better start to the season. The boys' attitude was great and they all
worked very hard in hot conditions."
